Baba is You is a very inventive logic based puzzler where you move words around on the screen to reprogram the properties of the objects in each level.
The full version of Baba is You has recently been released to (quite rightly) massive critical acclaim, but if you fancy checking out where Baba began then you'll really want to check out the original game jam version too. The game jam build was created for the Nordic Game Jam in 2017 and features 13 cleverly crafted levels where you reprogram the properties of objects in each level to help you complete them.
In each level of Baba is You the properties of everything on the screen is defined by simple three word statements such as 'Wall is Stop' or 'Flag is Win'. You can push the words around (as in a Sokoban game) though, to rearrange the statements and change the properties of the objects – so, for instance you could change 'Flag is Win' to 'Wall is Win', so you only have to reach a wall to pass the level.
The full version has far more complex puzzles and has a lot more variables to play around with, but the original game jam build still has some fantastic puzzle design. It's a very creative little puzzler that really forces you to think outside of the box to solve levels that often look impossible at first glance. Highly recommended

What is Baba Is You about?
The best puzzle games provide pure fun when you finally reveal their secrets and that's what Baba Is You feels like. The idea goes way back to Arvi Hempuli Teikari, who first demonstrated his idea for the game at the Nordic Game Jam in 2017. The mechanics of the game are relatively simple, but Hempuli quickly turns them into very complex puzzles. Each level provides new game rules and everything is defined by blocks, or rather words, on the screen. You are often provided with the sentence Baba Is You, which is also the first rule - you play as Baba. Quickly add new variations that affect your playing possibilities and change rules by moving one of the word blocks. For example, Wall is Stop, will make walls stop in their tracks.
